just passing through, thought i'd clear up something you wrote, but SVA does have a foundation year with painting, drawing, sculputure, etc.

it's awesome that you're thinking about going to pratt, i love it here, but i think in the end it all boils down to what you want to major in, pratt is better in some areas than in others. thats really important. the good thing is that if you don't quite know what to major in you have the first year to decide, the first year is the foundation year, which means you'll be taking general art classes like painting, drawing, sculpture, media, etc. i feel like i really benefited from the foundation year, but some people don't have the patience to go thought an entire year of classes they are not necessarily interested in, if this is the case with you i suggest you look more into a school like SVA which doesn't have a foundation year. you just start taking classes pertinent to you major from the start.
anyways, the best thing to do is go and visit both schools, good look with finding out which to choose.
